Self Help and Hair Loss

Balding is described through the medical term alopecia. There are four basic types of alopecia.

While implementing a balanced diet high in protein and B vitamins will not cause you to grow much new hair it will create an environment that promotes and supports growth.
*Exercise: Blood carries nutrients to the scalp and good circulation is very important for a healthy head of hair.
*Reduce stress and anxiety: Have you ever heard anyone say “I am so upset I could pull my hair out”? Not to worry if you are that upset your hair will fall out on its own.
*Treat your hair better: Do not pull at it, comb or brush it harshly, or use harsh shampoos. Reduce use of colorants and other harsh chemicals. Reduce the use of blow dryers and curling irons. Realize that sun and chlorine can do damage so take steps to offset this.
*Don’t be hesitant to try new products: There are many affordable topical oils containing ingredients such as lavender, peppermint, meadowfoam seed oil, or nut oil that are widely available. Some people see success with these blends and they are certainly worth a try.
