Whether referring to them as life skills, transferable skills, soft skills or competencies, almost all educators agree that students need additional skills as well as academic knowledge to be successful. Skills such as brainstorming effectively, working in a team and good time management are crucial, especially in the world of work.     I understand why people can feel overwhelmed by self help as sometimes you just want to let go and take life as it comes. However, I use self help to get me through life. If I feel negative, I watch Marie's videos and they get me out of my rut. So for me, self help is often about using whatever I can, to help me manage everyday life, then the self improvement part comes later!
